We have 2 directory servers (DS1 7 DS2) setup with an Extended Directory Catalog and configured via Directory Assistance. There are entries in DA for a replica of the EDC on both directory servers. Both entries are enabled in EDC and everything was working fine. Today DS1 went down and instead of my SMTP servers using the replica of the EDC on DS2 I received the following error on the console and messages are queued: Router: Unable to dispatch message 00486061 to claims@domain.com. A remote directory resource is unavailable, message will be requeued. Why is DA not failing over to the replica of the EDC on DS2? DA is confoigured properly on all of my servers and everything was working fine as long as DS1 is up. What's the purpose of referencing multiple replicas in DA if the servers are not going to fail over to the other replica(s)? Also, DS1 came back up about 20 minutes ago and messages that were queued are still sitting there in mail.box. New messages are routing OK. I know how to get them to go but why are they just sitting there?
