Hello,
We have a compact program running nightly with the switches -B -S 10. I expected this to compact all databases with >= 10% space available. This does not seem to work for some mail databases and the server refuses to compact them despite them having the requisite amount of unused space.
I found this in the help:
Compacts all databases with a specified percent of unused space. Example: if you specify 10, databases with 10% or more recorded unused space are compacted. Unused space calculation is not always a reliable measure of unused space.
Can anyone explain why unused space calculation is not always a reliable measure of unused space and this being the case what would be a better way of doing this?
