We have a search functionality from web browser which takes in a field name, a search criteria and the search text and does the search based on these parameters.
1. Field name is a valid field name selected from a combo box.
2. Search criteria is either Begins with, Contains or Ends with and is a radio button.
3. Search Text is free text field wherein the user enters the value to be searched against the specified field.
The problem that we face here is if the value stored in the field is having a text like "Test input", rather than "TestInput", then this document is also being retrieved if I search using Ends with as the criteria whereas ideally this should be retrieved only if I say "begins with". Similarly the vice versa case.
The search is performed using view.FTSearch().
The same results are found even if we use
(a) ?SearchView&Query=Field fieldname begins searchtext
(b) ?SearchView&Query=Field fieldname ends searchtext
(c) ?SearchView&Query=Field fieldname contains searchtext
which means all three options are doing the same process as that of "contains".
We have even tried this by using wildcard and removing wildcard.
Is there any way to filter out only the documents that are to be retrieved or is this option not possible using Lotus Notes?
