RE: set field value using LS exiting

Yes, as has been discussed in this forum quite recently if you bothered to search, clicking the action bar does not remove focus from the field and therefore the Exiting event doesn't fire.

What's the point of having an editable field that the user can't edit because anything they put in there gets overwritten when they exit the field? Why not just make it a computed field? At least that way they don't waste their time typing something the application will ignore.

And in case you were going to tell me that they weren't going to enter that field unless they wanted to put that value in it, I remind you there are users who can't navigate with a mouse, and have to tab thru all the fields to get from place to place on the form or even to find out what all the fields are.

In any case. The Onchange event doesn't have to be written in JavaScript. But I don't see how it helps you. You could write code in the Querysave event to make this change.
