I would like to create a Domino database that retrieves DB2 data (fields) and displays them in Notes forms with periodic updates to get the latest DB2 data.
The Notes form should include fields that display this data (as is) and other fields that use some of the DB2 imported data to do DBlookups in Notes views and display the resulting data in the same form.
i.e. the form has DB2 imported data and Notes-calculated data.
I know this can be done via DCRs (in Notes R6.x). Now with Notes R7, I thought that The DAV and QV will be utilized instead of the DECs.
I have read the QVs and DAVs documentation. I am not sure that they eliminate the need for DCRs.
The DAVs make Notes data available to DB2 While the QVs make the DB2 data available to Notes (making use of SQL query statements) - just for viewing - the resuting rows cannot be opened nor the data can be saved locally.
Does this mean that I should continue using DCRs to retrieve and save the DB2 data on the Domino Server ? Then to be able to utilize the SQL query feature, I should create DAVs + QVs in addition ?
