We are having a big problem with one of our servers. It is 6.03 on Win2K. It runs two partitions on the box itself - both of which are clustered with another box. It has transactional logs enabled on the primary (active) partition which are held on a dedicated disk and raid controller. Symptoms of the problems are:-
a) Server crashes for reasons unrelated to the problem
b) When it comes back up it says that it has a relatively small number of databases to consistency check (but I thought with transactional logging turned on it should not need to consistency check at all?).
c) It then consistency checks a much larger number of databases (I suspect every database it had open at the time of the crash) which takes it many hours.
d) While is is running the consistency checks it can and does deliver mail to other servers - but all mail for local users queues up. A 'tell router sh q' shows the router busy with mail queued for local delivery.
e) When the consistency checks finish (hours later) the mail is more or less instantly delivered.
Would be very grateful if anyone has any ideas - I am suspecting a bug in 6.03 but I need something concrete to present to my management. Many Thanks.
