Nathan - thanks for the heads up - missed this thread at the time.
April - if you are still here - what you propose is a variation on the theme of accept-then-bounce which itself assumes the address given as the sender in the spam actually belongs to the spammer. They almost never do and they are frequently a real address belonging to some innocent third party. Therefore, please do not implement your proposal. There are many better ways of dealing with Internet abuse coming at you from outside without any need to revert to abuse yourself.
