Hi all you experts.
I need to preserve the value of a field the first time the form is saved. I've used computed fields with formulas hundreds of times, but for some reason I cannot make this scenario work.
I have field1 that is a radio button with 2 choices, with choiceA as the default value.
I have field2 that is a combobox with several choices with "Select..." as the default value, and is hidden until choiceB is chosen in field1.
If field1 remains the default value (choiceA), then my computed field (field3) should be field1. If field1 is choiceB, then field2 comes out of hiding and the user chooses one of the values. Then that value should go into my computed field (field3).
Field3 is the problem! Field3 is computed and has this value:
@If(field1 = choiceA; field1; field2)
That formula works, but the problem is, it does not retain the value. Other users can now come into the saved document and change the value of field2, which also changes the value of field3. I need field3 to retain the original choice. I have tried computed when composed and everything I can think of.
Field1 – choiceA, choiceB (radio button)
Field2 – several choices (combobox)
Field3 – choiceA if that’s what’s chosen in Field1, or Field2 if choiceB is chosen in Field1 (computed)
Any and all help and ideas are greatly appreciated!
