We have one production server so this is happening on that one server.
The server is typically low load; we have at most 100 users on line at any one time. There is a relatively high load of scheduled agents but we've never seen any issues with the server getting bogged down.
I did not turn off the router function before doing the delet.
You did get me thinking - I am running AuditManager against the NAB for both edits and deletions. I wonder if there's a conflict with the audit function trying to catch the deletions? The server hung at about 2:30 when I tried the <del> of the mail in entries and there's no entry in the audit log db...hmmmmm.
I'm going to disable the audit manager triggers and try another delete; but probably not right now since I don't want to risk hanging the server on at the end of the month when production is pushing to get product made and shipped.
