Subject: Can't get standalone Java to access view in Notes DB
Feedback Type: Question
Product Area: Domino Server
Technical Area: Application Development
Platform: Windows
Release: 8.5.3
Reproducible: Always

I've written Java agents in Notes DBs to access other Notes DBs, but now I'm trying to write a standalone Java app to pull from a Notes view. DIIOP is enabled on the Domino server, but http is not.

Session session = NotesFactory.createSession("<server_name>");

If I use that with no ID/PW as shown above, it connects me as Anonymous which isn't good enough; I need to use my own ID on the database since it can't open the view via Anonymous.

If I add my Notes ID and PW to the createSession line I get invalid name/password, presumably because I'm not in the server's address book - only admins are. Everything else is via ACL groups at the database level.

Is there a way to make this work, or do I need to either a) be in the server's names.nsf or b) have the DB accessible to Anonymous? The DB is not web-enabled, so Anonymous is not even in the ACL.
