I have this one user who, when they open their mail file, is getting:  Document has been modified or corrupted since signed! (data)

I fire up the admin client and open their mail file and I get the same message.

Is anything writing to the email doc?

This happens to me if a signed email gets some other field written or stamped on it.

It can also happen to other signed Notes by other ways, but that's the most straightforward one I've run into.

Mail File Design..

The first thing I usually do when I see goofy messages from a user's mail file is 1) Run Fixup, and 2) restore the mail files' design with the 'load convert' command:

load convert -u mail\<mailfile>.nsf * <template>.ntf

I don't know why, but it seems like once a month a user's mail file design just gets hosed....

I used to get whole design corruptions when I had multiple templates out there.

Something about auto design updates just doesn't sit well on the servers I've worked on.

Invalid signatures

Did you see this blog on hunting down invalid signatures? Someone contributed a code sample for fixing the signature.

I agree that configuring the design task to run each night lessens control over changes. Some shops believe that since this is a default task that they should not be tampering with it, but it is something that will bite you sooner or later.

I would first start with making sure you only have one design of each template om the servers.

Make sure acls are set that changes only propagate down to the mail servers

Sign each template with a admin id from you company,

The nconvert command is best for insuring that all design elements are including folders are set on the mail folders to be based on the template name correctly.  I would suggest having this run as a program doc scheduled for weekly (weekend is the best )

Design task really no longer needs to run daily and should be controlled via a program doc
