FORUM ANNOUNCEMENT: We're taking the conversation in a different direction...

As of July 14, 2018, this forum will be closed to new activity, in favor of the newer developerWorks dW Answers forum. You'll still be able to view all the content in this forum (the one you're in right now), but new discussion should take place in dW Answers:

https://developer.ibm.com/answers/index.html

There, you can ask and answer questions about Notes and Domino, as well as other IBM products, and you can flag, filter and follow questions with an extensive tag set. (For your purposes, "notes," "domino," and "xpages" will probably be most useful.)

Notes and Domino discussion is already going on at dW Answers, so we urge you to join in now.

*That really stinks to lose the Notes client ability to participate

I agree 100%
I can see about 25 posts on the notes client without even moving off the first page, I can see about 5 with the web UI. Sadly IBM thinks they're moving forward, when typically they're moving backwards.  I doubt I'll visit the forums everyday, the way I do with a Notes client.

I agree too. IBM... you need to re-*THINK* this. <>

Way to go IBM!!

Yet again another change that just makes it even harder for your poor customers to get to the information and help they need. You are truly deluded if you think this is helping anyone other than yourselves!

I also agree 100%

I took a quick look at the ' developerWorks dW Answers forum', long story short, i doubt I'll use it much, either.

Heck, I can't even figure out what the account system is.

I remember having an IBMid, needing it for some convention registration years ago.

No, no memory of anything about that IBMid. I have one here. I use the one that's here. I need the account I use.

Yip going backwards

...So sad to see that from IBM.

Perhaps let HCL "fix" this for you. They are re-developing Domino10 and the related products. Handing over the support forum to them may make end user experience better.

How to search the new site?

Tried to search the new site for "how to block older clients" and got 32k+ unrelated hits.

Re: how to search the new site

I would use a tag in conjunction with search terms. So I typed "notes", which gave me the notes tag as a choice. I selected that, and then typed in "block older clients". That returned seven results, one of which was your question. Once you start following a tag, you can also choose it from "Tags / Tags I follow" to get the set of questions tagged with "notes" (for example), and then add search terms to search within those results.

So, I ran across a completely separate way to reconnect with my "IBM account" ...

Some comments on the new forum:

The forum doesn't have a login link that I can find. That's kind of fatal to its user interface. I have to act like I'm posting a question to post an answer. Hm. Very Counterintuitive.

The forum takes an inordinate amount of time to find postings by one subject. You know, say, "Domino".

The forum takes yet another unpleasant amount of time to sort by last posting. Frankly: relevance doesn't seem relevant. At all.

And clearly I want all the "notes and domino" relevant postings. I'm sure there's a nice way to do this (oh, look, here's a forum that's all relevant and such). I'm absolutely certain that there are many, many more people who would like to be able to do the same for their own interested products. Got any ideas?

... jsyk, I'm presently trying to login. and it's taking quite a while. I estimate I've been trying to login for at least 5 minutes.

I don't find any way to have the "new" forum search multiple tags, (domino or notes)

Is there a way?

Then the forum chucked up a "it looks like you ... click here" message.

Here's the URL it returned:

redirect:/search.html?q=%5Bnotes%5D

Didn't really do much.

Sorry I missed your recent comments. Up till now, my experience with dW Answers performance has been very good, but today I'm getting a 502 Proxy Error from the site. I'll try to find out what's going on. Then I'll try to answer your other questions.

Okay, developerWorks resolved the error I was seeing before. It looks like you found the Sign in link, but just in case, it's in the menu that appears when you hover of the person icon in the upper right of the screen:

Re performance issues, I'm not sure what to say right off. I've seen good performance on search--say, 2 seconds to return results--and sign-in--maybe 5 seconds. It sounds like some difference in our environments, but I don't know what that would be. My only immediate thought is to ask a question in dW Answers itself, using the 'dw-answers-help' tag. I can also see if I can locate someone in the developerWorks group to help us.

Re searching for multiple tags, I just posted a question about that. I'll let you know what I find out.

So now -- new IBM "discussion" rejects my login attempt.

Like I said before, if I had a working account, I might consider moving.

But I don't.
