Thanks for posting this. Like Jen says -- what do we look for (not wanting to fix it if it's not causing problems).

Also, your link to the policies blog is broken; you're missing the http:// part, so (most? all?) browsers simply see it as a relative link within your own blog, thus it doesn't work as is.

Is this corrected in 8.5.3FP1 or even with FP1 I should think of that change? Currently I upgraded only in domain with very limited <8.0.1 but going to upgrade also where there are plenty of <8.0.1, so curious if this is still valid for FP1.

the win2000 lotus notes server is 5 and the xp client notes version is v5 as well

The situation is subtle, so there's not one easy thing I can point to. From an end user's point of view, the would probably notice certain preferences being turned on/off that weren't before. So the client would behave differently, say, by having the mail file location switch from whatever they had it set to. I can understand the hesitancy to make the change. However, the changes is really limited to uncommenting those 4 lines. And if you use Designer to compare with an 8.53 pubnames.ntf, you'll see that they are not commented there. I think you are MORE at risk to have issues reported by your end users by not making the change then by making it. The pubnames.ntf will be changed in the next release to have these lines no longer commented out.

Thanks for posting, but as Jen says, what do we look for -- I don't want to "fix what ain't broken" etc. Haven't noticed anything yet, but...concerned about lurking issues.

BTW is this related to the client config refreshing tons now in 7.0.4, ever since upgrading to 8.5.3?

We are supporting both 8.x and 7.x clients with policies. i have not had any complaints from users since upgrading the servers and updating the names.nsf to 8.5.3. What should I be looking for? I don't want to create a problem.

As above, I have danced around the site and eventually found the download page only to be told I don't have access!!! I think our Lotus server license is up for renewal soon. My suggestion will have to be change it out unless the download becomes available!

When you say that this information does not apply to Domino 64-bit, do you just mean that the setting should not be applied? Or do you mean that 64-bit Domino will actually ignore the setting if it is applied?

This is a great article, people love visuals and it helps with the basic internal Sametime setup. However a lot of companies are looking for Sametime/Meeting availability both internally and externally. I'm not talking about the Gateway setup, I'm talking about having the ability to have Sametime meetings with your external clients, or an internal user that is traveling a can only access the meeting server from the external internet. A suggestion would be to create a similar document but with the emphasis on providing Sametime meeting access both internally and externally. The current "documentation" for this is very vague!

I had this problem on 8.5.2 and upgraded to latest 8.5.2 FP2 and it was resolved. Mine was hogging 25% CPU across a 4 core VM.
