What is this cookbook?
  • The "Upgrading to Lotus Notes and Domino 8.5.1" cookbook is a powerful one-stop shop for our customers' Notes and Domino upgrade needs.
  • The cookbook is a jumping-off point for all content related to Notes/Domino 8.5.1 upgrades.
  • Within it you'll find best practices, recommended upgrade approaches, and lessons learned based on many successful upgrades, key information and instructions, and links to more detailed information in other familiar resources including Technotes, Domino Administrator Guide topics, and Notes/Domino wiki articles.
  • The cookbook is a living document that will be updated over time with more best practices, lessons learned, and new information.
  • The table of contents shown in the above graphic can be found on the landing page of the cookbook.
Why is this important? We want you to upgrade to Notes / Domino 8.5.1 and this cookbook is a key resource to help you do so successfully!

Why should you upgrade?  Here are just a few reasons:

- Customers are raving about 8.5.1 -- "The strongest release for Notes/Domino in 20 years"

- End of Service dates are approaching and customers need to think about upgrading now:
--Lotus Notes 6.5.x - April 30, 2010
--Lotus Notes 7.0x - April 30, 2011

- Special attention was paid to the quality, consumability, and removing barriers to adoption for 8.5.1

- Heavy emphasis was put on addressing customer pain points in 8.5.1

- Using feedback from deployments of 8.5, priorities for 8.5.1 were established:
--Make the client easier and more reliable to deploy
--Make the user experience easier and more predictable
