The release of Domino 8.5 introduced several new features to help you reduce the total cost of ownership for your Lotus Domino environment. One of those new features is a powerful tool that will help you maximize the return on your Domino investment -- the Domino Configuration Tuner (DCT).
What does DCT do?
DCT analyzes Domino servers and compares the configuration options it finds to a growing set of best practice rules to identify configuration problems. If DCT detects that a server is not following those rules or running without the recommended configuration, a warning is generated in a report for that server with supporting information about the configuration and how it should be set. These types of report entries make configuring your servers a snap. When DCT completes, you can evaluate the recommended changes and take appropriate action to improve the stability and performance of your environment. Also note that DCT's rule set is continually expanded to include additional best practices. If you would like to see additional rules not already in DCT, feel free to leave a comment here or contribute to the DCT wiki.
An example of what the DCT will check for you
In the screenshot below, DCT has flagged the presence of too many Update tasks running on the server based on a rule that there should be no more instances than the number of CPUs.
Where can I get the DCT?
Download the FREE Domino Configuration Tuner today, then simply choose the servers to be scanned and let DCT go to work!
