Seven months after the successful implementation of Fix Central for SWG on ibm.com, Fix Central for SWG v.2.0 was officially released in January, 2008.  Fix Central for SWG V 2.0 offers new software product searching options, and product upgrade advice, that promotes client self-assistance by making it easier to find the best fix to download, fast.  Now, you can request the set of fixes recommended by IBM tech support for the product, version, and platform selected or browse through the complete set of maintenance upgrades and interim fixes.

Upgraded Fix Central for SWG V 2.0 options include:

  • Recommended Fix List: A list of recommended fixes, based on inputted software installed level and platform, provided by the IBM product technical support team
  • Fix Categories: Allows for enhanced browsing of fixes based on preset categories such as performance, security, etc.
  • Text Search: Enables fix searches based on a text string that is matched against Fix and Authorized Program Analysis Report (APAR) Abstracts
  • Supersede Function: All search results pages now include notice of fixes that have been superseded

IBM clients continue to praise Fix Central's overall unified look, feel and support for software, and hardware, product hosting fixes, including:
  • Automated enforcement of entitlement, export control and "Terms and Conditions" acceptance
  • Ability to find fixes by product, operating system and/or release - or by APAR ID or Fix ID
  • Automatic detection and download of prerequisites along with requested fix(es)

Fix Central for SWG V 2.0 supports Lotus, Rational, Tivoli, Informix, and WebSphere products -- with the list of covered products growing every week.  For a detailed list, see Fix Central Supported Products.
