Because some Lotus products are built on top of WebSphere Application Server (WAS), there are questions and concerns among customers regarding the unknown: Just what is WebSphere Application Server?

A 1 hour self-study course that demystifies WebSphere Application Server is now available.  This course is designed to introduce you to WebSphere Application Server, explain its characteristics and benefits, and show how it relates to Lotus products that run on it:

  • Lotus Sametime
  • Lotus Connections
  • WebSphere Portal
  • Lotus Quickr services for WebSphere Portal

Focus:
The course has a high level focus on areas that will benefit customers who are interested in learning more about WebSphere Application Server.  Note that this course is not for you if you are a WAS expert!

Why take the course?
To learn a bit about this technology that several Lotus products run on; To understand why some Lotus products run on this technology; Out of pure curiosity.

Requirements & Prerequisites:
There are no requirements or prerequisites for taking this course.  No prior WAS knowledge is needed.

Accessing the course:
The course is a PDF file, available for download from this server: ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/lotus/info/training/waslorlotus.pdf  (Note: This link will also be posted to the product wikis for the associated Lotus products)

Special thanks to Jessica Piziak and Ellen Tiberi for this!
