Please note the information below that was just added to Technote #4022981 - "Download re-signed Java applets for Lotus Domino (May 18, 2009)"

Updated info about Domino 7 servers and websvc.jar

A websvc.jar file was previously included in the list of files to replace on Domino 7.x releases. This file is not used by browsers and thus is not impacted by the applet expiration issue. We are recommending that customers do not replace this file on Domino 7.x releases since it is not impacted.

Additionally, a problem was discovered with the provided websvc.jar file that could cause crashes on Domino releases prior to 7.0.3.  The file and issue does not impact Domino 6.5x, 8.x, or 8.5x since ZIP files and interim fixes for those releases did not contain the file.  Additionally, 7.0.3, 7.0.3 Fix Pack 1, and 7.0.4 do not appear to be impacted.  This technote will be updated as new information is uncovered.

On Wednesday, May 20th, the websvc.jar was removed from the Domino_7x_applets_2009_all_platforms.zip available for download from the FTP site.  The updated ZIP file will be available on Fix Central starting Thursday, May 21st.

Note:
If you have already applied the provided websvc.jar, follow the below steps to replace it with the one you removed.

1.  Shut down Domino
2.  Replace the websvc.jar with the original "gold" version
3.  Restart Domino

OR

1.  Shut down HTTP
2.  Stop runjava (if applicable)
3.  Replace the websvc.jar with the original "gold" version
4.  Restart HTTP
5.  Load runjava (if applicable)
