Your guide to what's great about Notes 8 (and higher)

One of the lesser known buttons on the Notes Toolbar is "Add to Sidebar".  It's grouped with the "Getting Started with..." and "Configure a widget..." icons,

This button makes it possible to add the current view to the right sidebar.  Not all views work well in the sidebar, but I've found the To Do sub view is perfect for this function.  First thing first.   You'll need to produce the To Do subview in your Mail.  At the bottom of the navigator column on the left, click and drag the view up from the bottom.

There are multiple sub-views to choose from.  You can select To Do from the drop-down menu in the sub-view.

Selecting one of your To Dos from the list will  make the sub-view active, so that you  add the correct thing to the sidebar;

Click the "Add to Sidebar" icon, and your To Dos will be added to the sidebar.  I prefer having it there, because I can see all of my To Dos without covering up the folders in the navigator.
