WebSphere Portlet Factory goes through a continual process of improvements to meet advances in technology, new environments, changing requirements, and enhancements to the product. As each new release of WebSphere Portlet Factory addresses these improvements, there is an upgrade path for our existing users to embrace the new features WebSphere Portlet Factory’s technology has to offer. This guide will provide a strategy to upgrade WebSphere Portlet Factory from release to release.
Planning for and Performing an Upgrade
- Never modify your projects' WPF core properties files (eg, bowstreet.properties, cluster.properties ) in WEB-INF/config/ as those files will likely be overwritten on upgrade of a project to a new WPF version and/or fixpack.
- New property values may be set and properties in those core properties files may be overridden by placing them in WEB-INF/config/override.properties file in your project(s). You may create that file if it does not exist, to set/override WPF properties.
Refer to the following guide "Strategy Guide for Upgrading WebSphere Portlet Factory and Project'
This guide will use upgrading WebSphere Portlet Factory 6.0.2.3 to WebSphere Portlet Factory 6.1.2 as a specific example, but is not limited to these specific versions. This guide will also review how to apply a Fixpack or Testfix after an upgrade.
