Serviceability - IBM definition: "Serviceability is the end to end experience from the time a problem occurs or a customer perceives they have a problem with our products, solutions or services to the time they believe it has been successfully resolved for them.”

WebSphere Portlet Factory provides multiple mechanisms to assist in the serviceability of the tooling, development and deployment of your applications. This high level overview lists some of those mechanisms and refers you to the product documentation, additional Wiki articles and product TechNotes for more information.

Logging, Log configuration and analysis

Use the logging capabilities supplied by WebSphere Portlet Factory to help diagnose what's going wrong, when errors occur. Often, there is more information available in the log file(s) (such as prior errors causing the current error situation) than the error information you see in the application browser window.

The following wiki article describes the logging capabilities of WebSphere Portlet Factory.
