Troubleshooting host name errors

Host name mismatch cause errors when checking server configuration or when publishing an application.

Problem

You are receiving host name mismatch errors when checking server configuration or when publishing an application

Solution

Publishing relies on DNS resolution for determining server host names and ip addresses. It is important that you use the server host name you created during your Websphere Application Server or WebSphere Portal install in your server configuration for publishing. If you are running WebSphere Portal or Websphere Application Server locally on your system you will want to use the server host name you used during install instead of localhost. You may receive an error message if you use localhost, since localhost resolves to a different ip address in most cases.

If your server host name cannot be resolved by DNS, then you will need to enter your server hostname and ip address into the hosts file of the operating system designer is running on.
