A common pattern in Web applications is a data-driven repeated or tabular display in which some items are clickable links, while others are plain text. This pattern requires that the program determine at execution time which type of UI element will be used to render a particular item or cell.
This IBM® WebSphere® Portlet Factory model shows one way to select among different UI types at execution time, in particular, between a link and a piece of text. The technique used in this model is to include both a Link builder and a Text builder, and to use two Visibility Setters to control which is displayed based on values in the repeated data.
