Lotus Widget Factory

Lotus Widget Factory is a development environment for creating custom widgets that run in Lotus Mashups.    It is bundled with Lotus Mashups and with IBM Mashup Center.

This presentation has an overview of the Widget Factory product: lotusWidgetFactory_1.0.ppt

About the relationship between Widget Factory and Portlet Factory

Widget Factory is built on the same code base as Portlet Factory and shares most of the same features and builders.    Widget Factory includes support for automatic deploy and publish to Lotus Mashups.

Most builders and models are compatible between Widget Factory and Portlet Factory, so many of the samples posted on the Portlet Factory wiki can be used in Widget Factory.    In general the only things that are not compatible across the two platforms are:

  • Features or builders that are specific to the platform, such as the Widget Event builder or the Cooperative Portlet Source and Cooperative Portlet Target builders.
  • Features that are not available in Widget Factory such as SAP integration.

For most of the Portlet Factory samples on the wiki, you can run them as widgets just by adding the Widget Adapter builder to a model and then publishing to Mashups.

Here are some more wiki resources specifically for Widget Factory:
