The SAP Extension pack is a powerful set of builders and related files that provide access into SAP systems.
These Builders allow you to create portlets that can call functions or BAPIs within an SAP system. The portlets can access any RFC-enabled SAP function. The SAP builder pack also includes an SAP Object Browser model that you can run as a web application to browse the objects and functions on an SAP system.
The SAP builders are designed to work with other IBM® WebSphere® Portlet Factory builders to create robust, highly customized portlets that feature custom look-and-feel and provide access to functions within standard as well as user-created (custom or individual) BAPIs.
Using the SAP extension pack
Some preliminary operations are required before you can put the SAP builders to work. You must configure an SAP properties file and also determine the type of credentials you will use to access the SAP system. See the readme file accompanying this pack for details.
The SAP builders
The following SAP builders are included in the WebSphere Portlet Factory SAP Integration Pack:
SAP View and Form
This powerful high-level builder creates a Search Page (input form), Results Page and, for functions that return tabular data results, a Detail Page. Each of these pages can interact with the selected remote-enabled SAP function.SAP Function Call
This low-level builder is used to establish a call to a remote-enabled SAP function. This builder creates a Java method that can be called to get data from the SAP system. This builder also creates model variables that contain the data returned from the function. (This builder's functionality is incorporated into the SAP View and Form builder.)SAP Help Values
This builder provides access to the "Help Values" associated with the fields present in an SAP function. Help Values are a list of valid choices for a given function field. This builder can be used to populate a Select input control from which a user can select an input to the SAP function.SAP Batch
This builder executes an exported SAP batch input. Using features in the builder you can parameterize values of the batch process. Additionally, values of the batch can be designated User Inputs.
