The Ajax Region builder converts the actions in a specified region of the page.
The converted actions execute without causing the top-level page to reload in the browser so that just one part of a page refreshes when the user performs an action. This builder thus allows operations in one area of a portlet or a widget to execute independently and eliminates the need to reload and re-render the entire portal or widget page.
Ajax region and portal client side aggregation
Do not use the Ajax Region builder in a model when the portlet is configured to use IBM® WebSphere® Portal Client Side Aggregation. Using an Ajax Region builder can cause errors and is not necessary in this situation because the WebSphere Portal server is refreshing only the individual portlet.
Additionally, using any Partial Page Refresh and Client Side Aggregation and not being careful can also cause errors.
