Table 1. Builders to work with tables, columns, and data layout
|Task||Builder you should use|
|Clean up your application by hiding columns that do not need to be displayed.||Use the Data Column Modifier builder.|
|Add sorting to the columns in my table.||If you use the default base RDD file in your model, sorting is automatically selected. To change the sorting for a column, use the Data Field Settings builder and specify a field type that has the condition you want, either sorted or unsorted. |
The Data Column Modifier builder lets you modify table columns, including adding the sorting capability.
|You want to:
- Rearrange the order of the columns in a table
- Add a counter column to your table
- Change the alignment of your columns
- Add an “Edit” column for editing records in your table
- Add a “Delete” column
|The Data Column Modifier builder controls the tabular display of one of the "container" elements in the data being managed by a Data Page builder call. When you choose one of the available elements, the builder editor displays a table that lists all the child elements in the selected element. This table contains inputs allowing you to configure the display characteristics of each column in the table as well as adding columns and rearranging their placement.|
|Create a data view that allows users to expand and collapse the data by category. This type of control is often referred to as a “twisty” by Domino users.||The Category View builder adds collapsible sections associated with one or more columns of categorized or sorted data. A user can click on an icon to expand and collapse displayed category data. Note that this builder requires that a column of the data contains category values.|
|Create visual grouping of data fields for display in forms.||The Data Field Merge builder lets you merge fields so that they are presented as a single field. |
The Data Hierarchy Modifier builder lets you select data from a builder such as View & Form or Data Page and create new groupings within the data structure.
|Create newspaper-style columns for form data.||The Form Layout builder lets you select form data for a page, and divide it into multiple vertical columns.|
