You can redirect URL access through an outbound proxy server by adding the proxy server's URL and port information to the script that is used to start the application server.
If authentication is required, you can also add a username and password. The directions below provide just a brief description on how to modify the start script. For more information, refer to the documentation for your application server.
- Back up the script used to start the application server.
- Open the script used to start the application server in a text editor, such as Notepad.
For BEA WebLogic running on Windows NT/Windows 2000, this file would be startWebLogic.cmd. The properties described in "Modifying server.properties" can be provided by using an environment definition (-D) on the startup command.
For example: Dhttp.proxyHost= proxyservername.proxyserverdomainname.com
- Save the start script, and restart the application server.
The following is an example of the changes, for BEA WebLogic. The changes added are in bold.
"%JAVA_HOME%\\bin\\java" -hotspot -ms64m -mx64m -classpath %bowstreet_CLASS_PATH%;%CLASSPATH% -Dweblogic.Domain=companydomainname -Dweblogic.Name=computername "-Dbea.home=C:\\bea10" -Dweblogic.management.password=%WLS_PW% -Dweblogic.ProductionModeEnabled=%STARTMODE% "-Djava.security.policy==C:\\bea10\\wlserver6.1/lib/weblogic.policy" "-Dhttp.proxyHost=proxyservername.proxyserverdomainname.com" "-Dhttp.proxyPort=9090" "-Dhttp.proxyUser=myusername" "-Dhttp.proxyPassword=mypassword"
