Use the PeopleSoft View and Form builder to create a portlet that can access a PeopleSoft backend system, make calls to a component interface, and display or edit the results.
This builder is designed to be used for rapid prototyping of PeopleSoft applications. Do not use it in a production application because it combines user interface and data access functions in a single builder. To develop a production application, use the following combination of builders in separate consumer and service models. This practice provides you with a more flexible and maintainable solution.
- View and Form
This builder lets you produce a rich client interface.
- PeopleSoft Component Interface
This builder lets your model directly call the backend as a discrete service.
The portlet generated by this builder supports the following PeopleSoft component interface methods: Get, Find, Create, Save, and Cancel.
In addition, this builder makes it possible to call user-defined component interface methods. The builder also allows you to create standard pages that display and edit information obtained from a component interface. For example, you can configure the builder to create an input page to collect FindKeys, create a search results page to display instances that match those FindKeys, and create a page that displays details for each instance presented on the search results page
