Various WebSphere® Portlet Factory operations are configured by properties files.
These files are located in a project WEB-INF/config
In general, you can accept default settings for all properties. However, if you need to change a property setting for a project, do so in only one file, the override.properties
file. Properties placed in this file override equivalent properties in any other properties file.
Properties files include:
- System-wide properties (such as the machine name, or other properties that you could access by using the system.getProperty method).
Changes to properties files
By default, changes to WebSphere Portlet Factory properties files in a running WAR are not recognized until the WAR is restarted. To have property file changes take effect while the WAR is running, set the following property in the override.properties
file and start the WAR.
If the property is set to true
, several observer threads are started when the application server starts the WAR. This lets you update a properties file in the running WAR and have those changes be recognized by WebSphere Portlet Factory.
Very few WebSphere Portlet Factory properties can be changed at runtime even when the observers are started. If you change properties that are not explicitly documented as being changeable at runtime, you can cause errors and obtain unpredictable results.
Properties provide information on the semaphore timeout interval, ports, file uploading, output caching, and model caching.
About event log properties
Event logs can provide a wide range of information from debugging information to notification of a pending failure.
Statistics log properties file entries and format
The statistics log collects information about memory usage, active sessions, persisted (or swapped) sessions and the number of times models run.
Statistics log properties
Use these properties to configure statistics logging.
You can use properties to configure log4j logging.
Page automation properties
You can use properties to override settings made in various page automation builders, for example, Data Page, Data Column Modifier, and Rich Data Definition.
Property changes that require a server restart
Certain properties require that you to restart the application server to have the new value take effect.
Domino Rich Text functionality and displaying foreign keycodes
Add the bowstreet.domino.richtext.encoding.override property to override.properties file to properly display foreign keycodes.
