WebSphere® Portlet Factory provides a rich user interface for editing models and profiles and developing web applications.
You use the IBM® WebSphere Portlet Factory perspective when you run WebSphere Portlet Factory Designer. This perspective provides special menus and other features to support editing your models and constructing web applications. Click Window
-> Open Perspective
-> WebSphere Portlet Factory
to activate this perspective. The title of the window indicates that the WebSphere Portlet Factory perspective is in use. The perspective uses both Eclipse and WebSphere Portlet Factory views, the Model editor, and the Profile editor.
Applied Profiles view
The Applied Profiles view provides access to apply one or more profiles to a model. Problems view
This view also allows you to manage combinations of profiles when multiple profiles are applied to the same model. It has content only when an open model is selected in the edit area. Click Window -> Show View -> Applied Profiles to display the view.
WebSphere Portlet Factory Designer uses the Eclipse Problems view to display warnings and error messages related to model generation and behavior. When an error is caused by a specific builder call, double-clicking on the error in the Problems list opens the related builder call for editing in the builder call editor.Properties view
The Properties view displays selected builder inputs and their current settings for a generated element selected in the Application Tree or in the Design panel.Tasks view
You can use the standard Eclipse Properties view to examine and change display and validation settings for fields in the model. Click Window -> Show View -> Other -> General -> Properties to display the view.
WebSphere Portlet Factory Designer uses the Eclipse Tasks view to display tasks that are entered in the builder call editor Comment field (click Properties -> Comment to display entries). The Java compiler task tags FIXME and TODO are supported. To display the view, click Window -> Show View -> Other -> General -> Tasks. WebSphere Portlet Factory wiki view
This view displays a default Eclipse browser that is set to display the home page of the WebSphere Portlet Factory product wiki.
This wiki is the repository for both IBM and community content related to the best practices in the product. Click Window
-> Show View
-> WebSphere Portlet Factory wiki
to display the view. Use the dropdown list in the menu bar of the view to change what initially appears in the view.
The Project Explorer and the Model Navigator views
Project Explorer is an enhanced version of the standard Navigator.
In IBM WebSphere Portlet Factory, the profile editor lets you create and manage profile sets.
About the Outline view
The Outline view in the IBM WebSphere Portlet Factory perspective displays the builder call list for the model that you selected in the edit area.
About the model editor
IBM WebSphere Portlet Factory uses several panels in the editor area of the WebSphere Portlet Factory perspective to create and develop models for a web application.
About using the builder call editor
The builder call editor allows you to specify all the input values to a builder call.
The WebSphere Portlet Factory Wiki view
The WebSphere Portlet Factory Wiki view connects you to additional product information, for example, guidelines for best practices.
The Resource Log view
The Resource Log view displays significant events in current project session.
