Re: Adding a category to the customization shelf with 8.0

Oscar, yes the forum post was very clear. I answered in the forum since this is not really a custom category question but rather a difference in the default categories in main vs virtual portals.

Oscar, I do not understand the question. If the portlets in a custom category are identified by tags, then you need to tag them in the virtual portal.

Re: Adding a category to the customization shelf with 8.0

Hi, How I add old categories and its content and not only recent added, to the virtual portals?

Thanks Michael. But what did you do to make it work? I'm hoping its a cache refresh or something?

Re: Adding a category to the customization shelf with 8.0

Thanks David, I did run the xmlaccess script for the virtual portal and the tags are there. Visible in the Tag Center.

But the customization shelf in the virtual portal does not get our custom category, in fact the out of the box Communications category (which is available in the root) is not visible in the virtual portals either.

Re: Adding a category to the customization shelf with 8.0

Tags are scoped to virtual portals. The the tags you created with the above xmlaccess script are only visible in the main portal. You should run the xmlaccess script again to apply to each virtual portal. Like this:

xmlaccess.sh -in your.xml -url http:://yourserver:yourport/yourcontext/config/vpcontext -user youradmin -password youradminpassword

i.e.

xmlaccess.sh -in tags.xml - http:://example.com:10039/wps/config/vp1 -user admin -password pa88w0rd

Re: Adding a category to the customization shelf with 8.0

I followed these instructions with a succesful result on my root portal. But it seems to be missing in the virtual portals. What extra step(s) do I need to take ?
