What do I need to migrate?

If you are migrating a primary Web Content Management server you will need to consider the following components when planning your migration:

Migrating your Web Content data

- Migrating your Web Content data
After completing the Web Content data migration, you need to schedule time for manual content validation.

Migrating Local or Remote Rendering Portlet Configurations

- Migrating a local rendering portlet

- Migrating a remote rendering portlet

Note: If you have a small number of local/remote rendering portlets, it may be simpler to install and configure new local rendering portlets to use the migrated data instead of migrating any existing portlets. See the following links for examples on manually configuring the rendering portlets.

- Configuring the local rendering portlet

- Configuring the remote rendering portlet

Migrating User Profiles

- Migrating user profiles

To determine if you need to migrate your user profiles, review this technote:
When is it necessary to migrate users when migrating from Workplace Content Management 5.1 to 6.0.x or 6.1.x?

Migrating Custom JSP files

Migrating custom JSP files is a manual process. You will need to manually copy the JSP files from 5.1 to 6.1. You should also check the latest WCM API best practices to ensure that your code is taking advantage of the latest methods. You should update any code accordingly.
