Re: Enable SEO SHORT URL in WebSphere Portal

Excellent article. I just wanted to mention that some Portal L2 supporters have stated that using mod_proxy with IHS makes the Portal installation unsupported, unless you can "prove" that the problem doesn't occur when connecting through IHS without using mod_proxy.

Re: Enable SEO SHORT URL in WebSphere Portal

Hi Michele,

A quick help needed. You have used mod_substitute with Apache HTTP Server. The same module is not available with IBM HTTP Server (IHS). I may be left with either use Apache Web Server with Portal (in which case, uninstall existing IHS) and reinstall and reconfigure plugin and Portal Server with Apache or build mod_substitute using Apache Extensions. Is there an alternate to mod_substitute to work with IBM HTTP Server? Your help will be highly appreciated.

For completeness sake: as per http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSHRKX_8.0.0/admin/mp_friendly_short_url.dita it might also be required to update sideNavigation.jsp and/or mobileNavigation.jsp.

Re: Enable SEO SHORT URL in WebSphere Portal

Excellent article. Puts the tools and options that customers are asking for in one single article! Also helpful with the reference site so that anyone curious can see for himself how the suggestions work in action.

I have to admit: I love the sentence in the 'Conclusion' chapter :-)
