Reusable Content-Types
The Templates Catalog brings you out-of-the-box support for a broad set of reusable content-types. The News, Event, Course, Meeting, Job Offer, FAQ and Biography templates are specially tailored to assist you with the provision of typical web content items that are frequently needed on web sites. In addition, Rich Text, HTML, Header and Titled templates serve you as general purpose building blogs for your pages. The defined content-types feature different views for full size presentation, navigation menus, and teasers. Furthermore, the Catalog also contains definitions that make it easy to include dynamic effects like Fisheye Navigations or Scrollable Images your pages.
Consistent Design Patterns
The provided building blocks for the supported content-types can be used in many different ways. The Template Catalog demonstrates a predefined set of those different application choices by combining the single components into different patterns for single page and multi-page solutions. The underlying design patterns and principals ensure that the look and feel will always be uniform and consistent.
Reusable Web Content Libraries
The Lotus Web Content Management definitions for the reusable content-types are organized in two web content libraries that are ready to be added to your own Lotus Web Content Management definitions. Furthermore, the templates catalog also provides pre-initialized libraries that you can directly use for your own content items. In addition, the content that is used for the show cases with in the catalog is located in a separate library so they will not interfere with your own work.
Built-in Showcases
The Templates Catalog comes with a broad display of all the available technology. Thus you can browse and evaluate the different ways to use the templates and give the various solutions a try before you decide what to reuse on your own site. These pages also give you a good impression on how you can fit the look and feel of the presentation to your own needs or pre-existing styling. The full-fledged pages even provide you with a solid sandbox in which you can stage your own customizations before you apply them to your production site.
Page Templates
To ease the creation of own pages with assets from the template libraries, the catalog provides page templates for a large number of the portlet combinations shown on the example pages. When creating a new web content page you can simply choose from these layouts and Portal will not only create the new site, but will also put all the required portlets on them.
Jumpstart Area
The separate Jumpstart area under Home helps you to quickly set up your new site. It already contains ready-to-use versions for your own content pages and is already set-up to work with your own content library. Just start using it by adding new items and customizing the already provided common pages; for example, footers like About Us, Contact Us and Terms & Conditions.
