TECH-P03 Building a Social Portal in the Cloud

For years, conference sites and other event sites have been mostly one-way sources of information, but more recently, with increased usage of mobile devices and social technologies, it has become possible to create event sites that allow two way and multiple-way communication between the participants, speakers and coordinators before, during and after the event. The event site IBM built for Connect 2014 and other conferences combines the power of IBM Digital Experience solutions— WebSphere Portal, Web Content Manager, Connections, Forms Experience Builder—with mobile services all deployed on IBM SoftLayer hosting services. This session will cover the features of the social portal event site, how we designed the overall architecture to use social concepts mixed into the site, how we capitalized on mobile access and how we deployed it all on SoftLayer as a repeatable pattern.
