Q: Is installing ActiveInsight on an existing Portal 6.1 server the best
approach, or should ActiveInsight be installed on a separate server?
A: Lotus ActiveInsight (LAI) can coexist with any other portal pages and
portlets that are deployed on a Portal server and does not require a separate
server to run.
Q: If installed on the same server as an existing Portal application, how
does ActiveInsight integrate? Do the new pages and portlets just
get added in, or does it overwrite anything?
A: The ActiveInsight installer deploys its portlets and creates new pages
on the server: one Scorecard portlet page and a couple of pages in the
adminstration section of Portal. It does not overrides any existing portal
pages or deployed portlets.
Q: Can ActiveInsight be installed on a clustered environment?
A: At the moment, ActiveInsight cannot be installed on a clustered environment
due to some limitations with its installer and lack of certification on
such environment.
Q: My Portal runs as a Windows Service and my ActiveInsight installation
failed. What's the problem?
When you install Lotus ActiveInsight on a WebSphere Portal running as Windows
service, you must provide the full Windows service name in one of the Lotus
ActiveInsight installation panels, for example IBM WebSphere Application
Server v6.1 - WebSphere_Portal_nodename. If you provide anything but the
full service name, the installation will fail. (You must also provide the
full service name when uninstalling.)
If the Lotus ActiveInsight installation fails because you did not provide
the full Windows service name, you must perform the following steps before
installing Lotus ActiveInsight again:
1. Uninstall
Lotus ActiveInsight.
2. Restart
the server.
3. Delete
the Lotus ActiveInsight directory that was created during installation.
4. Drop
the INSIGHT database.
