Enabling SSL between WebSphere Portal and IBM Connections
April 12, 2013
Enable secure socket layer (SSL) connectivity between IBM WebSphere Portal and IBM Connections before you attempt a search with the Social Network portlet.
These steps allow SSL connectivity between WebSphere Portal (as a "client") and IBM Connections (as a "server"). The SSL connection is made outbound from WebSphere Portal (client) to the IBM Connections system (server). A certificate from the keystore on the Connections (server) is returned to WebSphere Portal (the client). The Portal configuration must have the signing certificate for that IBM Connections certificate in its local truststore. This procedure is using the WebSphere Application Server certification management features to obtain the signing certificate from the IBM Connections server. It inserts it into the appropriate truststore certificate storage location on WebSphere Portal.
Log on to the WebSphere Integrated Solutions Console for WebSphere Portal.

Review the certificate information to ensure that it is valid. It should be issued to the IBM Connections server host name. It should be issued by a Root Certificate. If possible, verify the certificate with the IBM Connections administrator.
