Adding the layouts to the theme
If you are using the Mobile 8.0 theme with the Portal 8.0 or Portal 184.108.40.206 theme, you must add the Mobile 8.0 layouts to the shelf configuration. If you are using the Mobile 8.0 theme on a portal with the 220.127.116.11 theme, the layouts appear by default in the customization shelf since that theme automatically picks up layouts in the global scope.
Applying an alternate style to a theme
The Mobile 8.0 theme has a new look and feel that includes a new CSS layer. The CSS does not augment like a normal theme style but it completely replaces the existing CSS. The module provides an example pattern for implementing new styles in the mobile perspective.
The Mobile 8.0 theme takes advantage of the modularization architecture of Portal 8.0. This means that the Mobile 8.0 theme has a profile like the Portal 8.0 theme that can be modified through WebDAV.
Mobile file structure
Four types of files come together to create the Mobile theme.
Mobile theme modules
The Mobile 8.0 theme modules are defined in the theme.json
contributions file. They are all specific to a mobile theme.
The Mobile theme provides three types of navigation.
Setting the mobile navigation type
You can select the type of navigation for your mobile theme.
Changing the page layout
You can change the layout assigned to your Mobile theme pages. The Mobile theme does not support edit capabilities and requires that you use the IBM WebSphere
Portal 8.0 site toolbar to change the layout.
Customize the Mobile theme
You can modify aspects of the theme to customize the mobile experience. There are configuration options available for the ready-use navigation and layout widgets that allow for easy modification. There are additional options available through the HTML templates and styles that allow for a flexible UI.
The mobile theme supports mobile devices with Webkit-based browsers. There are compatibility styles that can be enabled for further browser support.
Adding compatibility for non-supported browsers
You can update the mobile theme to add compatibility for a non-supported browser.
Performance optimization and mobile themes
For performance optimization in your mobile themes, use the cache manifest file and make sure to turn off layer files when debugging.
