Site Builder overview
Site Builder is an application that is used to create site templates and section templates. You then use Site Builder to quickly roll out new websites, or add new sections to existing websites, using these site templates and section templates. Installing Content Template Catalog and Site Builder together offers you the widest choice of website designs. After you install Site Builder and set up access for administrators and website creators, they can log in to IBM WebSphere
Portal and go to the Site Builder page to access the features of Site Builder.
Installing and removing Site Builder
Site Builder is included as an option in the Content Template Catalog installation and is installed by default.
Deploying Site Builder
Deploy Site Builder by making the Portal page visible. Then set up access to determine who can use Site Builder and which tools they can use. Website creators are allowed to create websites, or add new sections to existing websites, based on the site templates and section templates provided to them. Administrators can create websites, or add sections to existing websites, and they can create, change, and distribute Site Builder templates too.
Using Site Builder
Site Builder uses a set of wizards to guide users through the creation of Site Builder templates, and the creation of sites and sections using those templates.
Working with libraries in Site Builder
Choices for content libraries have an effect on what changes you or others can make to a published site.
Exporting Site Builder templates to other servers
Site Builder administrators can export published Site Builder templates to other servers running Site Builder. People working on those servers use the Site Builder templates to create websites or to design similar Site Builder templates. Only administrators can export Site Builder templates. Website creators do not see the import and export actions when they use Site Builder.
