Using MWP Stock
The MWP Stock portlet obtains quotes by accessing a local data source holding historical data.
This portlet allows the end user to view the financial information as follows:
- Search specific stocks
If the ticker symbol is known, the end user will have to enter the symbol in the empty text box provided along with the date and then click Get Quote to obtain the stock details. The stock details (Open, High, Low, Close, and Volume) will display.
- By a stock list
Stock quotes for a predefined list of symbols are displayed at login. The end user can change the symbols and the order for which quotes are displayed under this list. To change the items contained in the list, the end user can add or remove symbols from this list, as well as change the order of entries while in Configure mode.
- By a symbol list
To enter a proper ticker symbol, the end user would select from a predefined list of valid symbols.
- Detail view
Complete financial data is presented together with a history chart when the end user clicks Get Quote after entering a valid ticker symbol.
- Summary view
This is the initial view displayed when the end user is logged in to the portlet. It displays a basic set of stock data for symbols contained in the stock list.
MWP Stock operates in two different modes:
Displays the financial information that is available to the end user of the device.Edit mode
Used by the end user to personalize the list of information for their own device. The user can add or remove symbols, change the symbol list, as well as the symbol order, and change the date.

This portlet supports browsers and devices that are handled by either the HTML or XDIME aggregators.Server requirements

The MWP Stock portlet is installed with the Mobile Portal Accelerator runtime components and also as a sample in the Mobile Portal Toolkit samples gallery. When installed with the Mobile Portal Accelerator runtime components, it is located on the Mobile Applications page.Configuration parameters
You can use Mobile Portal Toolkit to view the source code for the portlet and to run it in the WebSphere® Portal test environment.
The name of the portlet's WAR file is MWPStockSample.war.
