Specifying the location of the web serverAdded by IBM on October 1, 2012 | Version 1 (Original)
|Web servers host the images that are accessible using an HTTP request. Several configuration changes are needed to support a web server.
It is possible to store image files on an external web server instead of containing the images in the portlets WAR file. To do this, perform the following steps to configure ics-config.xml
Parent topic: Developing MAP portlets using XDIME
Media Access Proxy (MAP) sample portlet
- Set up an external web server; then, put all the test images on this server. For example:
If you are using the MAP sample portlet, store the test images in a subdirectory called images
- Edit was_profile_root/map/config/ics-config.xml and change default values as follows.
- After completing your changes, restart the application server where MAP is installed.
- Modify parameters in the MAP sample portlet, as needed, to support a remote web server. See the topic MAP sample portlet for details.
Important: Changing the ics-config.xml values affects all portlets that use the MAP server. The v.imgHost and v.imgPort URL parameters can be used by the portlet with the XDIME2 object src attribute when using a device-dependant mime type or a convertible image component. These URL parameters override settings in the ics-config.xml file, but by default the imgHost and imgPort parameters used by the XDIME portlets are obtained from this configuration file.
