In general, a Web Content Manager Personalization component combines a portal Personalization selection rule with formatting information. This information defines how data returned by that selection rule is transformed into markup that is rendered on a portal page. Social rendering makes use only of the markup generation capabilities of Web Content Manager Personalization components. It uses only empty selection rules that work on the Pluggable Resources resource collection.
For extracting the individual pieces of metadata of social objects contained in a social list, you can use the Web Content Manager AttributeResource
tag. For more information about Web Content Manager Personalization components, see the topic about Personalization element
in the Web Content Manager product documentation.

List-rendering profiles for your custom IBM Connections queries
Social lists present attributes of social objects, for example blog posts, to the portal user. To specify the information that is displayed for each social object in a social list, use the AttributeResource
tag in the design component of a social list.
Specifying in the design component how social data is served
Among other features, social objects have different links that enable users to download the social objects or related data. For example, users can use links to download a file or the profile image of the author. You can specify in the design component how such data related to social objects are retrieved and served to the users.
Specifying in the design component how social object links are resolved
You can include one or many attributes of social objects in the design component that defines the visual design of your social list. Among other features, social objects have different links that enable users to access the social objects or the community to which the social objects belong. If you plan to add these links to your social list, you can decide how you want the social objects and their home community to be resolved when users click the corresponding links. IBM
® Portal can either resolve the links in the context of the portal itself, or redirect the user to the IBM
Connections user interface. You can specify in the design component how links of social objects are resolved for the users.
