RE: Cannot update to 2.8 Jan Kreutzer 9.Dec.11 07:29 AM a Web browser Install Mail Security 2.5.1Not Applicable
the fix_balist_index script will only remove double entries from a database and has nothing to do with the firmware update.
Probably you saw something which points to firmware 2.8 in the result statement of the script when it has finnished.
- I checked the directory /var/spool/updates/ -
Yes of course, in the default settings, firmware updates will be automatically downloaded, but not installed without User Interaction. So it's fine when the Update Packe is already there.
- Though, I do not see the new features -
You should see:
Home - System -> Firmware 2.8 should be visible
and to verify: Mailsecurity - Policy - Settings - attachment analysis is a new Tab in 2.8.
also System Updates - updates and Licensing should have a new Tab called: System Updates
- mailsec_28_msgstorefix.zip" results in breaking the service mailsecd -
sure, this ZIP file contains a new Mailsec File and this can not replaced with the Mailsec in Firmware 2.7.
So I assume you were not already on 2.8 and were never be on 2.8 also after applying the script above.
why don't you use update-control -fw and see what happens ?
