Lance J Nethery 22.Nov.11 04:44 AM a Web browser SmartSuite9.8All Platforms
Installed Smarsuite 9.8.1.
Everything is working except the Help option.
In 1-2-3, when I click on Help, Help topics, Help topics,
(when I press F1, I get Ask the expert, and the same thing)
I get a Windows Help and Support window asking me "Why can't I get Help from this program?" and stating that "The help for this program was created in Windows Help format, which depends on a feature that isn't included in this version of Windows. However, you can download a program that will allow you to view Help created in the Windows Help format. For more information, go to the Microsoft Help and Support website."
They are referring to the file WinHlp32.exe. and they point me to the Windows 7 version of this file. I get lost when I click "Continue" to run the Genuine Window Validation.
I have a valid Windows 7 program
I don't see this file listed in this forum, nor do I see my problem.
I bought SS98.1 on the cheap on EBay ($30), so I doubt if IBM is going to help.
Another thing: When I open a .wk4 file and right click on a macro button, normally I would expect to see the name of the maco, for example {AddData}. Instead, I get a choice, among other things, of "Show script editor:" When I click this I get the equivalent script:
Object Button 11
(Source As Buttoncontrol)
[ADDDATA].MacroRun
End Sub
Not only that, but if I click on the down arrow next to Button 11, all of my macros in this file have been reduced to buttons similar to the one above.
This is fine and many of them work, but some don't and I have read in this forum some of the reasons. But this is the primary reason that I need help files.
