I have about 300 sound files of various tunes in a folder, all of which are in either MIDI or MP3 format. I can play them by double-clicking their file names, which brings up
Windows Media Player which plays them. I also have a 1-2-3 application that contains the names of many of those tunes. The tunes are categorized and I use Lotus script to pull out lists of various categories among other things.
For any tunes that are in both my sound file folder and in my 1-2-3 list, I would like to be able to initiate playing them from within 1-2-3, in two ways, as follows:
(a) I have a dialog box which I use to create a record for a new tune, and when that is on the display I would like to be able to click a button on it which would cause Windows Media Player to start up and play the corresponding sound file.
(b) When I am looking at a list of tunes on a sheet on the display (with no dialogs present) I would like to be able to click a cell on an item for which I want to hear the sound file, then click a special button at the top of the sheet, and have Windows Media Player start up and play the corresponding sound file.
I don't know how to do this in 1-2-3 or whether it is even possible. Any suggestions will be very welcome.
