Jan Szubert 21.May.03 10:16 AM a Web browser Sametime Online Meeting Center/Meeting Room 3.0 Windows NT/2000
I would like to convince our company to roll out Sametime throughout the organisation ie about 5000 users, because of all its functionality. One of the major problems is the appalling screen refresh performance on application sharing even when the colour palette is restricted to 256 cols on both test clients. Even when only 1Mbit is sent (per screen refresh)I am seeing peak transfer rates of no better than 200 to 400 Kbps, even when running on the same segment as the server ie on 100Mbps ethernet. This gives me 3 to 5 seconds a page. Excruciating! Downloading the connect client from the same server runs at 28Mbps peak transfer so there is no problem of bandwidth restriction here.
I have seen sub second screen refresh rates before, but do not know how to set up a server and clients to achieve that consistently.
Using peer to peer products and even Net Meeting (on 2GHz P4 client machines) I can get 0.5 sec refresh rates. Does anyone have any ideas where to look at this? Server settings or other things on the clients? I would like to avoid building our own peer to peer product just to meet this need.
