If you purchased a Polycom solution , for example, you would have a black box sitting in your server rack which you would need to pay Polycom or a partner a fee to administer or you would need to train someone up in your company. This is the same. The VMCU is Polycom software which is designed to run on Unix. If you work for a large company, how many of your "big applications/servers" sit on Windows? Serious software sits on a "proper" OS. I'm not trying to defend IBM as the Unix only route is going to put off some people. If the choice was, have this functionality now but run on Unix or wait another year and you can have it on Windoze I can understand why they released it now. Losing market share to Lync to fulfil Windoze only companies desire to remain Windoze only is a bad idea. I do hope they release a Windoze version only to help gain momentum in such companies. You can always enlist a business partner to help support the areas where you lack skills? I have found quite a few companies doing this with my company.
