I always encourage my users to develop their presentation according to the venue. If they are in a meeting room and all the attendees are in there as well, fine. Use 100mb of bitmaps in your presentations. However, if attendees will be using Sametime, create presentations that get the message across. Pretty/Cool/Flashy = Slow Meetings. It's really rather simple.
I've found that even when sharing a screen or application, you get a much better performance with less, or no, graphics in your presentations. Here's what the meeting center also says about color depth on the workstation that will attend the meeting. "Use a higher color setting only when image quality is extremely important and transmission speed is not an issue."
