RE: Sametime Meeting Rooms 8.5.1 stats Erik J Benke 4.Jan.11 01:31 PM a Web browser Online Meeting Center/Meeting Room 8.5.1All Platforms
Hi, Martin, so glad you posted about this. This of great concern for my managers as well. Without being able to retrieve similar stats to the ones you list, we're unable to demonstrate the ROI from Sametime. Of particular importance to us are total meetings and total meeting hours. All of this was easily retrievable in Sametime 8.0.2 and previous versions.
The tangible value of Sametime for our organization is being able to reduce our employees use of Webex. In the past with the built-in statistics feature we've been able to prove that we're saving the company a lot of money by shifting what would have been Webex costs to an in-house service that costs much less. However, as more and more employees begin to use 8.5.1 Meeting Rooms instead of Classic Meetings, I'm going to have less and less of an accurate gauge of how much Sametime is being utilized for online meetings.
I'd encourage IBM to either quickly add more stats into the 8.5.1 Meeting Center that parallel what exists on the Domino server for Classic-style meetings or at a minimum provide some tools or guidance so that Sys Admins can extract that information directly from the DB2 database.
Otherwise, IBM will likely lose some customers, particularly amongst Exchange shops like ours. I know it seems like a minor issue from a technical perspective but I'm already seeing within our organization how this seems to be a bigger deal amongst management than all the great new features and improvements in 8.5.x. For the people who sign the checks, quarterly metrics are often more important than just about anything else.
